How effective is a mini facelift?

In today’s world,  we all want to hold onto our youthful looks for as long as possible! If the signs of ageing are just starting to be noticeable, a mini facelift or even a midface lift could be the most effective approach for you.

As the name suggests, a mini facelift is a slightly less extensive version of a full facelift. A mini facelift can be very effective, and is perfect for smoothing out lines and wrinkles, as well as lifting skin which is starting to sag, particularly around the jawline.  A midface lift does a similar job for visible signs of tiredness under the eyes, like fine lines, discoloured or sagging skin; otherwise known as the ‘eye bag’ area.

If you have ingrained lines, significant wrinkling or feel that you have lost a lot of elasticity in your skin, then a full facelift is likely to give you better results.  Whatever the condition of your skin, it is still worth checking which option is best for your skin with one of our experienced consultants. It is not truly possible to know whether or not a mini facelift will work for you until your skin and facial structure have been properly assessed by one of our experts.

The condition of your skin is a vital aspect of choosing whether you need a facelift, a mini facelift or a midface lift! Given that everyone’s skin ages at a different pace, and our skin has a range of tolerances in its appearance of lines and wrinkles, a mini facelift has less to do with our actual age and more to do with the actual condition of the skin.

Our patients who have had good results from mini facelifts at Manchester Plastic Surgery are in a broad age range.  There is no one age that we recommend patients should go for this treatment, and instead ask our prospective clients to consider their skin condition rather than determine their suitability through their age.   Generally speaking, however, this is a treatment which may be most appropriate to our younger patients, simply because their visible signs of ageing are less advanced. Midface lifts, once again, are suited to many ages, to effectively treat skin upon which the majority of ageing is localised in the cheek and lower eyelid area.

Here at Manchester Plastic Surgery, we regularly see people in their late 30’s who want to deal with lines, wrinkles and sagging, before they become too noticeable.  However, we also have a lot of patients in their late 40’s and early 50’s, for whom a mini facelift can offer fantastic and highly effective results.

The best way to find out if a mini facelift or midface lift would be appropriate for you is to attend an initial consultation with one of our experienced plastic surgeons.  During this appointment, your surgeon will assess your skin and the underlying bone structure to give you a good idea of the results that can be achieved, either with a mini facelift or a full procedure.

It is as important for us as it is for you that we have a shared vision of what a good result looks like, as we want you to be delighted with how you look after surgery.

This appointment is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions about any aspect of your type of facelift procedure.  Any surgery is a major decision, so it’s important to us that you feel fully informed about what’s involved before, during and after your treatment, and that you feel you are in good hands with our surgical team.

Our consultants, Dr. James Murphy and Dr. Adam Goodwin, are both highly experienced plastic surgeons and have between them carried out hundreds of mini and full facelift treatments.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at Manchester Plastic Surgery to arrange your initial consultation.
