The outbreak of Coronavirus has meant many people having to find new ways of working, our team included.
Our usual base – the Spire Hospital Manchester – is temporarily unavailable as it’s being used to support the NHS during this time of unprecedented demand. However, it is hoped that things will return to normal by mid-June. Until then, our surgical and support team are now holding initial consultations via Skype, Facetime, and Zoom instead of face-to-face - and have so far been very pleased with how well these have worked.
If you’ve been thinking of having plastic surgery then a virtual consultation with one of our surgeons, Mr James Murphy or Mr Adam Goodwin, is a great place to start.
An online initial consultation works is the same way as a face-to-face meeting. It usually lasts around 30 – 45 minutes and in that time Mr Murphy or Mr Goodwin will seek to understand your motivation for surgery and get a clear picture of what you want to achieve - the extent of the change you wish to see.
Because Mr Murphy or Mr Goodwin will be able to see you via video, they will be able to assess to a large extent the area of your face or body you wish to change and give you a good indication of whether your hopes and expectations are achievable.
This will also be a good opportunity for you to find out more about what’s involved in the particular procedure you are considering, and to ask any burning questions you may have. Our aim is to enable you to get the tailored advice and information you need in order to decide if surgery is right for you.
Easy to set up
Setting up a virtual consultation is very easy. All you have to do is get in touch and let us know what treatment you’re considering. We’ll then come back to you to arrange a convenient date and time for an online discussion with either Mr Murphy or Mr Goodwin, our lead surgeons.
Of course, a face-to-face consultation will be needed if you decide to go ahead with surgery, but the online initial consultation will give you all the information you need to decide whether to go to the next stage in your plastic surgery journey.
If it is, then we can book a follow-up appointment to attend at our clinic at the Spire Hospital Manchester once the social distancing restrictions are lifted. We should be able to perform surgery once again from June onwards.
