# 5 tips when considering facial fillers
Facial fillers are an increasingly popular way to halt the signs of ageing and keep your look fresh. They’re a relatively simple, straight-forward, non-surgical procedure that can give you immediate results. Here are our 5 tips to think about if you’re considering having facial fillers at Manchester Plastic Surgery.
1. Choose an experienced surgeon
The key to great results is the skill and experience of the practitioner.
At the moment, there is no regulation regarding the qualifications of people who offer facial fillers. By having your fillers carried out at Manchester Plastic Surgery, you can rest assured that you are being cared for by an experienced, highly qualified plastic surgeon who knows exactly what it takes to give you the best results.
Knowing where to inject the fillers, and exactly how much to use, makes all the difference.
Using the wrong amount of filler, or injecting in the wrong sites, can at best leave you with less than optimal results. At worst, you’ll be left feeling even less happy with your face - and that can damage your self-confidence. Facial filler treatments cannot be hidden, after all!
2. Start early
Of course, facial fillers do not give you the same benefits as treatments such as facelift, brow lift or eyelid surgery, but if you start early, they can help to keep the signs of ageing at bay.
Age is not a particularly helpful indicator of the right time to start treatment as everyone’s skin ages at a different pace. We would say that as soon as you start to experience fine lines you’re not happy about, seek advice. The best results can be achieved with lines and wrinkles that are not too deep – the longer you leave it, the more difficult it is to hide them.
That’s not to say we can’t help if you’ve got deep lines – we certainly can. Fillers will certainly go some way to smooth these lines and make them less visible, but they’re unlikely to get rid of them completely.
3. Commit to regular treatment
Facial fillers can last anywhere from three to nine months – everyone is different. That means you need to be prepared to commit to regular treatment if you want to maintain your results. This means considering the time and cost of treatment before you go ahead.
Facial fillers don’t take long to administer and you don’t need a general anaesthetic. It can be slightly uncomfortable but not painful and you won’t need any dressings afterwards. You can literally walk into our clinic, have your treatment with our experienced, caring team, and resume normal life as soon as you walk out the door.
This means committing to a regular treatment shouldn’t be to invasive in your daily life, but being aware that the results do wear off is important from the outset.
4. Look after your skin
Facial fillers are a great option for keeping a youthful look but we would always encourage you to maintain a good skincare routine too.
Make sure you do all the basics – removing make-up at the end of each day, eating well and drinking plenty of fresh water. It doesn’t need to be an onerous task but if you do all you can to give your skin what it needs, you’ll keep it in the best condition possible. This helps us to give you the best possible results with facial fillers.
5. Enjoy your appearance
We’re all ageing – there’s no escape! Facial fillers will help you maintain a more youthful appearance and they’re less expensive and significantly less invasive than full-blown surgery. So when you’ve had your treatment, make sure you enjoy your results. Don’t wish you had the skin of a 20 year old if you’re in your 40s or 60s, that will only make you feel dissatisfied.
