COVID-19: Preparing For Your Online Consultation

If you’re thinking about having plastic surgery, now is a good time to do your research.

Coronavirus measures have meant that our usual base, the Spire Hospital Manchester, is being used to support the NHS at present, possibly until mid-June. So whilst we cannot book appointments to see you in person, we can certainly carry out initial consultations via video link – Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom. This is a perfect opportunity if you’ve been thinking of surgery, to explore the issue further and talk to one of our experienced surgeons about what’s involved. That way, when life returns to some degree of normality, you’ll be better prepared to decide whether plastic surgery is right for you.

What happens with an online consultation?

The online consultation is a 30 – 45-minute discussion with one of our experienced plastic surgeons. You can make an appointment by contacting us on 0800 015 0830 or completing our online form. Our practice manager will get back to you to arrange a convenient time for the call and will set everything up using your preferred app – FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, or another of your choice.

Before the call, it’s a good idea to look through our web pages to find out more about the treatment you’re interested in. For each procedure we carry out, we have information about your options, the actual surgery, preparation, and recovery. There are also before/after pictures and Q&As. All this will help you to formulate any additional questions you may have. Open and honest dialogue is extremely important so please do ask us about any aspect of your care and treatment.

One of the main benefits you get from an initial consultation via video link is that you can get a good idea of the results that could be achieved. Your surgeon can review the area of your face or body that you wish to change and understand the extent of the change you wish to make. It’s this shared understanding of what constitutes a good result in your mind’s eye that’s so important.

In most instances, we can help patients to achieve the results they desire. However, if we think that your expectations cannot be met, we will explain this to you. We know from experience that patients appreciate an honest and frank approach. You’ll find our surgeons, whilst highly experienced, are also extremely easy to talk to. You won’t feel any pressure to make a decision – you’ll simply have all the information you need to decide if you want to go to the next step, which would be a face-to-face consultation when circumstances allow.
