Here at MPS, we know that everyone has insecurities about their appearance. However, when these begin to knock your self-confidence or even change the way you feel about yourself, you may start to consider cosmetic surgery.
Whilst many people come to us having already made a firm decision to go ahead with cosmetic surgery, we understand that for others, it can be a more drawn-out process. Most patients we see need time to conduct their research, have a consultation, think and ask questions, and even speak to friends and family members before having a second, follow-up consultation and booking the treatment itself.
Our end-to-end approach aims to give all our patients the consideration time they need in the lead up to their treatment to ensure they’re fully confident and comfortable with their choice.
Step 1 – The Research
Before you book a consultation with one of our surgeons, it is important to do your research on the type of treatment you think would be best for you – gathering general information and noting down any questions you may have about the procedure, risks, and recovery time of your desired treatment. You’ll find lots of useful information on our website.
One of the most important parts of cosmetic treatment is choosing a surgeon you trust to keep you safe and give you your desired results. So, taking a look at forums such as Real Self, where patients post real, honest reviews of their various treatments with different surgeons is a great way to get a sense of what to expect from any surgeon you’re considering. You can also take a look at our range of before-and-after photos for your desired treatment too, which will give you an idea of how we can help you.
Step 2 – The Consultation
Once you’ve decided on your treatment, it’s time to book your consultation. Once we’ve received your consultation request, we will be in touch to arrange a date and time that suits you.
Your consultation will be with one of our two surgeons: Mr James Murphy, our expert in rhinoplasty, breast surgery, and abdominoplasty or Mr Adam Goodwin, our specialist in all aspects of surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation.
Consultation wait times can range from 8 weeks to a few months due to our long waiting list and our 2-stage consultation process, which means that we spend a lot of time with our patients before performing treatment to guarantee the highest rates of quality and satisfaction.
Once you’ve got the date for your consultation, it’s a good idea to make a list of any questions or concerns you have that you may want to ask your surgeon to help put your mind at ease. Remember, you’re welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to support you through your consultation and help you make your decision.
Step 3 – The Follow-Up Consultation
Following your first consultation, you will have the time to go away and do some more thinking – we really do want you to make the choice that’s right for you.
If you do choose to go ahead, we’ll arrange a follow-up consultation where we will discuss the specifics of your treatment and your areas of concern. We will explain to you in detail the treatment process, answer any more questions you may have, and give you information on how to prepare in the lead up to your treatment.
This two-stage process helps you develop a great relationship with your surgeon before you decide to go ahead with treatment. This allows you to feel sure you’re in trusted hands, so you’re confident you have made the right decision. It also ensures that you and your surgeon are on the same page about the results that can be expected, so you arrive on the day of your treatment feeling comfortable that you’re going to achieve the results you want.
Step 4 – Treatment
Once you’ve had your second consultation and decided to go ahead, we’ll book in a day for your treatment. This will include an overnight stay in our state-of-the-art facility, Spire Manchester Hospital, if necessary. We will communicate to you the steps you should take in preparation for your treatment, such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle, taking vitamins, quitting smoking etc.
Your surgeon will meet you on the day of your treatment for a final discussion where you can go over any last-minute questions. We will then conduct your treatment, following our highest standards of care and best practice.
Step 5 – Aftercare
If required, you will stay overnight in a private suite at our practice where our excellent aftercare team will be on hand to take care of your every need.
We will provide you with any necessary medication or painkillers and instructions on how to take them, depending on your treatment.
Before you leave Spire Manchester Hospital, we will arrange a one-week follow-up consultation to ensure you’re healing well and answer any questions you have about the recovery process. We will also arrange further follow-ups to monitor your results and healing.
Our aftercare team will always be on hand over the phone or via email to answer any questions or concerns you have throughout the recovery process, so you will always feel supported.
