The Ultimate Packing List for Plastic Surgery Patients

Written by Manchester Plastic Surgery | 13-Mar-2024 16:43:32

In the days and weeks leading up to your surgery, our team will give you comprehensive advice and guidance about how to prepare.  We’ll cover every detail so you feel fully supported throughout.

Bringing the right things into the hospital with you is an important element.  Whilst you’ll be comfortable in our beautiful en-suite rooms, and provided with delicious, nourishing meals, most people like to bring comfortable clothing, toiletries and entertainment.

Of course, the packing list will be personal to you, but here are the items we recommend you bring.

Clothing
Whilst your plastic surgery treatment is all about changing your appearance and feeling good about the way you look this is not a time to worry about such things!  This is a time to relax and get a good start on your recovery.

When you’re recovering from your treatment it’s important to wear something comfortable.  Pyjamas and loose loungewear are ideal, that way the fabric doesn’t fit tightly or restrict your movement.  Don’t forget to bring comfortable underwear (if you’re having breast surgery we will provide a soft bra).  You may also wish to bring a dressing gown and slippers.

Toiletries
A toothbrush and toothpaste are the obvious necessities but you may also wish to bring your favourite cleanser, some deodorant, moisturiser and lip balm.

Many people like to shower and/or wash their hair the day after surgery.  If you’ve had facial plastic surgery, such as a facelift or brow lift, you may be advised to wait a little longer before washing your hair.  Bathing/showering may be restricted if you’ve had a treatment such as breast implants or tummy tuck but with some care around your dressings, you can usually bathe to some extent, helping you to feel better during your recovery process.

Entertainment
Rest and relaxation are the watchwords in the immediate aftermath of surgery.  Your room is equipped with a TV but you may like to bring some books or magazines or download some music or podcasts.  As you’ll have your own private room, there’s no need to bring headphones.

Phones and gadgets
Being able to call your nearest and dearest will help you have an enjoyable recovery, so do remember to bring your mobile phone and charger!

When you arrive at the hospital on the day of your surgery, we’ll show you to your room so you can unpack and settle in.

Once you’ve had your treatment, you’ll be able to take it easy in your room and enjoy the company of visitors with unrestricted visiting times.

Our team is on hand to help you have a smooth and comfortable recovery, so don’t hesitate to ask for anything you need.
