Tips on Researching Your Plastic Surgery Options

With much elective surgery on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, now could be the perfect time to start researching and planning a plastic surgery treatment you’ve been considering for a while.

Research Your Available Options

Everyone has insecurities about their face or body. If you’re looking to have plastic surgery, the best place to start is by researching the various treatments available.

For example, if you’re worried about fine lines or wrinkles, there are multiple types of facelift or dermal fillers that could help to fight signs of ageing, depending on the extent of the issue and the results you want to achieve.

Research Surgeons

Once you’ve spent time identifying the type of surgery you’d like, the next step is finding a surgeon, (or at this stage, a selection of surgeons) capable of achieving the results you desire. When choosing your surgeon, find someone who has the experience and technical skills to perform your treatment and give you great results.

Make sure to look through their case studies, before and after photos, patient results and reviews as this can be a great indication of what they can achieve.

It's also important to choose a surgeon you can trust; someone who you feel comfortable around and who gives you confidence that they understand what you want from your treatment.

Research Practices

Putting time aside to research into the practice is just as important as finding the right surgeon. You need to make sure you’ll feel comfortable in the environment where your treatment will take place as you may need to stay overnight post-op.

Our surgeons, Mr James Murphy and Mr Adam Goodwin operate from the state-of-the-art Spire Hospital in Manchester, which opened in January 2017. When social distancing restrictions ease, they’ll be happy to welcome you into the practice where you’ll be surrounded by great nursing support and top-class facilities in your private suite.

Book a Consultation

Once you’ve narrowed down your choice of surgeons and decided on your treatment, it’s time to book your initial consultation.

At Manchester Plastic Surgery, we’re offering online consultations via Zoom, Skype, or Facetime, where our surgeons can truly assess your target area through photographs taken by you before the consultation, advise you on expected results, and answer any questions you may have. This will be followed by a face-to-face appointment where we can get a more accurate picture of your goals post-op.

Plan for the surgery

Following your consultation(s), now is the time to decide if you’re happy to go ahead with the treatment. Once you’re completely satisfied, start making preparations for your surgery.

While the exact date of your treatment will be uncertain at the moment, you can still begin preparations by ensuring you live a healthy lifestyle: eat well, take regular exercise and get plenty of rest. Good general health makes a difference in your recovery.

Another factor to plan for is that you’ll need time away from work and other daily responsibilities during your surgery and recovery period. Although you can’t plan an exact date, ensure you have someone available to help you during your recovery so you can rest and heal as quickly as possible.
