If you have Botox or dermal fillers, you may wonder if you’re helping yourself to delay the need for a facelift in future.
This is, indeed, the case for many of our patients who come to us for advice and guidance on facial rejuvenation treatments.
If you address signs of ageing early when fine lines and wrinkles are more subtle, you may find it’s not necessary to go to the extent of a facelift as the lifting and plumping effects of fillers are enough.
If this is the case, you may find that fillers help you achieve the more youthful appearance you’re after without the need for surgery. So, whilst Botox won’t halt the signs of ageing, it could help you be more satisfied with your appearance which means you may be happy to delay having surgery for a few more years.
We all respond differently to the signs of ageing. If Botox and dermal fillers help you to look younger without the need for surgery, there is no reason you can’t continue with this approach for the long-term. The key to great results is to have fillers administered by a trained, experienced professional who knows how much material to inject and in which sites to optimise your profile.
Before deciding on this route, you will need to consider whether you want to go to the effort of maintaining your treatments. The effects of dermal fillers do wear off over a period of weeks and months (everyone responds differently) so you’ll need to come back for regular top-ups if you’re to maintain your new looks.
Whilst the benefits of dermal fillers in helping to reduce the signs of ageing are clear, there is only so far you can go with Botox before you have to accept the inevitable onset of lines and wrinkles.
The fact is that a facelift is a permanent solution and can achieve the strongest results in the long-term. There is no need for any maintenance, beyond a good skincare regime.
The right approach always depends on what you want to achieve and the extent of your fine lines and wrinkles. Many of our patients try Botox and dermal fillers initially. Once they feel they need a stronger, more permanent solution, they then go on to have a mini or full facelift. In that time they have built a trusting relationship with the Manchester Plastic Surgery team which enables them to go forward in confidence, knowing that they will get results they are delighted with.
Ultimately, it’s our aim to help you look good and feel good, and full of self-confidence that helps you get the most out of life.
